Garden

At the end of our Spring Break, Papa, Kahuna and Robbie came for a visit. Dad and Robbie went skiing in Santa Fe and were dropping by on their way back home, but were in time to help us with our garden. Robbie stayed behind the scenes, but he was there loving the kids. Papa came for his 3rd soccer game in 4 weeks! Every game he went to we won, so we really were hoping to keep the streak going. Fortunately it worked most of the time, but this last time it did not work. :( We lost in a shoot out - which is what Rowlett wanted b/c they are really good at shoot outs. I want to say 6 of their 8 district wins were shoot outs. They really believe in their goalie - and for good reason. We fell just short of making play offs. Sad, but the season was so much better than last year. This group of guys gave us little trouble and were so much fun. We do lose a couple, but for the most part are really young and will be back for another great season in 2012.

Papa also came to help us build a garden by our garage. It is pretty, but it is also to serve as water retention. Our house is in a low spot and the low spot leads water directly to our garage. We keep working on the sump pump (which has gotten much better) but want to help the pump out by preventing as much water as we can from getting to it---so it will not have to work so hard. Papa got the wood and plants for us. Then he, Jake and Blake worked on getting it together. Once it was time for planting everyone got involved. My dad worked with Blake and Jake worked wth Kimberlyn. The kids loved it! The kids also went to town watering the plants (ground cover). It is our nightly activity before bed to water the ground cover. The kids have their own watering cans and love every minute of it. I can't wait to get started on the front gardening as well.

We are so blessed to have family come visit, support, and help us with the hard work of home ownership. These are the memories that last.
