The Bruehl family just returned from one of my favorite family vacations we have ever had in a long time. We went to Wimberley, Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving. My step mother, Kathy Cowan, has her family reunion there every other year. This was her family's 58th reunion!!!! Pretty amazing they have kept it going through the years, and they have so much fun together. They rent out a lodge, and several of us got cabins. We were able to stay in a cabin with my dad, Kathy and Robbie (and Jewel -the dog - of course).
This trip was, dare I say, perfect. It was perfect right down to Blake waiting until getting home to hurl. Well, he threw up one time in the car - but we were on our way home. He is not sick. He is just our sensitive stomach guy, and he was exposed to lots of new yummy food while there. The weather as absolutely perfect. We were not too hot or cold. We were able to wade in the river without shoes on, and had I known how wonderful the weather was going to be - could have done swimming suits. We met some wonderful friends on the trip. They took us on a hike on Friday to Indian Lookout. It was beautiful (beautiful is not a good enough word to describe it) and there were caves. So much beauty and adventure - a wonderful outing for anyone and everyone. I actually felt like we earned Thanksgiving dinner this year! Kimberlyn and Joshua became inseperable. Joshua is turning 7 in January and Kimberlyn is turning 6 in December. So almost exactly one year apart. Kimberlyn actually cried when Joshua left. The weather was absolutely perfect all weekend. It waited until the final night to rain, and of course, we love rain! And it was a good rain. Just a long peaceful rain - not a major storm. It was nice to listen to the rain as we slept in our cabin. I was able to read on the porch until 10 at night with just a light blanket. The weather could not have been more perfect. It would be really hard to recreate this trip with perfect weather and all. We are truly thankful for a lovely trip, but most importantly a very loving family trip. We are thankful to God for his beauty, His Peace, and most of all His love. We are definitely rejuvenated after that trip. Here are some pictures. They tell the story so much better. I put in a ton of pictures. It was hard to narrow down!
